Centegra Hospital

Our versatile seating solutions are just what the doctor ordered for the Chicago-based healthcare facility.

Our Freelance models spice up the staff cafeteria.

When the Centegra Hospital-Huntley team was ready to start thinking about its seating solutions, they reached out to Steve Buhr of Contract Furniture Source and Bruce Hentges of Spellman Brady & Company, a full service interior planning firm specializing in healthcare, higher education and senior living environments. For the suburban Chicago-based facility that would hold 128 beds and offer a full range of medical services including surgical and emergency care as well as an in-house pharmacy, the solutions would need to be versatile to accommodate the various needs of the hospital, comfortable for long-range use and easily adjustable for its entire staff.

Because Buhr was already familiar with SitOnIt Seating and the brand’s easy-to-work-with reputation, he and Hentges wasted no time in bringing 150 different furniture samples in over the course of two days for a staff-wide sit test. Because the Centegra team wanted the involve the staff and have the people who would actually be using the seats to have a say, Buhr and Hentges worked together to accommodate this request and provide as many samples as they needed to make this happen.

The Centegra staff voted for the Amplify upholstered task chairs and stools, as well as various Freelance and InFlex models. The Amplify mesh back, with its slimmer profile and high, long-range comfort level, was perfect for all the private offices located throughout the hospital. The added option to upholster it in fabric or vinyl, while keeping the plastic shell for easy maintenance, made it even easier to customize for each user. Our fully upholstered Amplify in vinyl won out for all the nurse stations while the Freelance proved ideal for exam rooms and guest seating for more private offices throughout the facility thanks to its extra-comfortable sit and wall saver design.

After more rave reviews following one of the hospital’s open houses, the Centegra management decided to standardize on SitOnIt Seating for the remainder of their planned healthcare facilities. The Centegra Health System team placed orders for two more hospitals and over 30 outpatient clinics in the Chicago area.
